Wood chips are great for keeping mud down and preventing soil compaction in high-traffic areas.

Moisture Retention:

They intercept rainwater and slow water flow, which helps prevent soil erosion.

Gardening & Landscaping

Organic Mulch: Spread a 2 to 4-inch layer around trees, shrubs, and perennial beds to retain moisture and regulate soil temperature.
A 6-inch layer can effectively smother and kill existing weeds.

Composting & Soil Building

Wood chips are high in carbon, making them an ideal "brown" material to balance nitrogen-heavy "green" compost materials like food scraps and grass clippings.
Wood chips can be used in specialized enclosed compost setups to break down material into nutrient-dense, humus-like soil.

Farm uses:

Animal Bedding: They are highly absorbent and help insulate chicken coops and animal stalls. As they mix with manure, they break down into fantastic compost.
